SERVICEMEMBERS CIVIL RELIEF ACT 101: If you leased a vehicle prior to joining the armed forces, you may terminate that lease if you are under a call of duty or orders of 180 days or more, or if you have orders for a shorter period of time extended to a period of at least 180 consecutive days. You may terminate a vehicle lease that you entered into while on active duty if you receive certain permanent change of duty station orders, or orders to deploy for a period of at least 180 days. If you purchased or leased your vehicle and paid a deposit or installment payment before entering service, then your creditor or lessor cannot terminate your contract or repossess your vehicle without a court order as long as you are on active duty.
