If you think you may need a divorce,
speak with an attorney! Most initial
consultations are free and the attorney can help you avoid common traps.
Day 4:
If you think divorce might be a
possibility, learn your spouse’s annual income.
You really should know it already, but try to find out as much as
possible before the information becomes unavailable.
Day 5:
If you think your spouse may ask for divorce,
make sure you know your family’s financial holdings – remember you will only
share in the assets you KNOW about.
Day 6:
Before you move forward with a divorce, be sure
to understand the family’s debts.
Document all debts – this will help with the division.
Day 7:
If you think you may need a divorce, learn about
your family’s valuables …. Inventory your safety deposit box, family safe,
jewelry box. Take photos!!
Day 8:
If you think divorce might be a possibility, find
out about stocks, bank accounts and other investments. Talk to the stockbroker. Know what insurance coverage you have.
Day 9:
If you think divorce might be in your future,
and you are the spouse that will be moving out, try to save money to pay the
rent for a year.

may seem heartless, but before you ask your spouse for a divorce, it might be
helpful to consider some pre-divorce planning.
